RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that RR Donnelley will expand its Lynchburg manufacturing facility. As part of the company’s strategy to create the most effective, integrated and flexible printing platform for its customers, RR Donnelley plans to invest $5 million in binding equipment and machinery. The investment is part of the company’s 2003 capital spending plan of approximately $250 million, aimed at strengthening the company’s print capabilities.

RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that APT, INC (Advanced Polyurethane Technologies) has chosen to locate in Mecklenburg County’s Boyd Warehouse, where it will manufacture and distribute its patented, low-cost polyurethane rubber boots. Through a $1.26 million investment, the project will create 50 new jobs during the company’s first year of operation, growing to 145 within 30 months and 180 employees within five years. Virginia successfully competed with North Carolina, New Hampshire, Ohio, Texas, and the United Kingdom for the project.

RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Wytheville Technologies, Inc., a manufacturer of automotive steering components, will create 102 new jobs in Wythe County. Through a $31-million investment, the company plans to expand its existing manufacturing operations with a new 150,000-square-foot facility in the Wythe County Progress Park. Wytheville Technologies, a U.S. joint venture of four Japanese companies, led by Somic Ishikawa, currently employs 62 people in Wythe County.

HENRY COUNTY - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Globaltex Inc. will locate its U.S. textile manufacturing operations in Henry County. The project will create 154 new jobs in three years. Through a $5.2-million investment, Globaltex plans to purchase a 77,000-square-foot facility previously occupied by VF. Virginia successfully competed with North Carolina and South Carolina for the project. Governor Warner announced the project this afternoon at an event in Henry County.

RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that MZM, Inc. has selected the City of Martinsville’s Clearview Shell Building for a database and information technology operation. Through a $4.4 million investment, the project will create 150 new jobs over three years, with an average annual salary more than double Martinsville’s prevailing wages. Virginia successfully competed with Washington, D.C. for the project. U.S. Congressman Virgil H. Goode, Jr. was instrumental in securing this project for Virginia.

RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Essel Propack America LLC will invest $10.4 million to expand the company’s existing operations in the City of Danville. The project will create 50 new, full-time jobs over 12 months, with higher-than-average salaries for the city. Virginia successfully competed with Mexico for the project.

RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Musser Lumber Sales, Inc. will expand its existing operations in Wythe County. Through a $3 million investment, the company will create approximately 45 new jobs over three years. The expansion will allow Musser Lumber Sales to construct a gas-fired wood kiln, additional storage and production facilities, and a retail outlet. The company will also expand its production line to include value-added mouldings and flooring. 

ARLINGTON COUNTY - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that the AES Corporation selected Arlington County as the location for its new, expanded global corporate headquarters. The new headquarters will create space for 115 new jobs that AES will add to join its current corporate group of 185 people located in Virginia. Through a $5 million investment, AES will build out a new corporate headquarters location to accommodate growth in the company. Virginia successfully competed with Washington, D.C. and Maryland for the project.

RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that 48,681new jobs and 4,944 saved jobs have been announced since he was sworn in as Governor in January 2002. During that time, Virginia has announced more than $6.2 billion in new capital investment. The data was compiled by the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the state’s marketing arm charged with recruiting new businesses, helping existing businesses expand, and promoting Virginia exports overseas. Governor Warner met with 75 senior corporate executives today at the Executive Mansion.
