The Team

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is the state economic development authority for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Created in 1995, VEDP collaborates with local, regional, and state partners to encourage the expansion and diversification of Virginia’s economy. VEDP works to accomplish these objectives through a variety of activities, including marketing and lead generation; business retention, expansion, and attraction; trade development; business intelligence; competitive benchmarking; site development; performance-based incentives; and talent solutions.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking an Associate Business Manager to provide professional services to the Knowledge Work team. This role will support the execution of lead generation and pipeline development strategies to promote Virginia to targeted corporate executives and consultants as the preferred location for new and expanding business facilities, as well as ecosystem development initiatives. This individual will work within the Knowledge Work team, which is responsible for the Aerospace & Defense Innovation, Business Services, Cybersecurity, Financial Services, and Software industries, which represent some of the Commonwealth's largest potential job growth opportunities. 

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking a specialized or experienced business development professional to execute lead generation and pipeline development for priority companies in the Advanced Materials sector working directly with plastics, metals, and other material manufacturers within and outside Virginia. This individual will work within the Manufacturing Sector team, which is responsible for the Advanced Materials, Biopharmaceutical, and Food and Beverage Manufacturing industries, to recruit and support manufacturing investment and job creation in the Commonwealth.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking a specialized or experienced business development professional to execute lead generation and pipeline development for priority companies in the life sciences industry, working directly with pharmaceutical, medical device, and biotechnology businesses within and outside Virginia. This individual will work within the Manufacturing Sector team, which is responsible for the life sciences, advanced materials, and food and beverage manufacturing industries, to recruit and support investment and job creation in the Commonwealth.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking a business development-focused Food and Beverage Manufacturing Industry professional to manage and grow investment develop ecosystems across Virginia’s Food and Beverage Manufacturing sector. This role will focus on fostering industry growth, enhancing ecosystem collaboration, and driving business engagement through lead generation and building strategic partnerships. The Director will work within the Manufacturing Sector Team, which leads economic development for Food & Beverage Manufacturing, Life Sciences and Advanced Materials industries in Virginia.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) seeks a Senior Analyst to join its Real Estate Solutions Division. The senior analyst will engage with statewide partners to understand available properties and lead the development of real estate packages for prospective projects. This individual will convey valuable data from partner engagements and site visits to the team to ensure that the real estate database is accurate and informed grant selections are made.

This position will join a high-impact team that broadly focuses on analyzing, developing, and implementing real estate solutions for economic development projects across Virginia. The team collaborates and coordinates with partners (e.g., local and regional economic development organizations, utilities, state funding partners) and third-party private entities to strategically develop and maintain a comprehensive, statewide portfolio of project-ready industrial sites and other real estate options for the full range of economic development project types and sizes considering Virginia and its regions. 

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking a Senior Vice President of Policy and Strategic Partnerships (SVP) plays a central role in achieving VEDP’s transformational economic development goals by providing executive leadership and strategically leading enhancements in the design and implementation of the following functions.

  • Economic Competitiveness: develops medium-to-long-term strategies to improve the foundations for state, regional, and local economic growth
  • External Affairs: coordinates and manages all legislative and budgetary initiatives; cultivates and manages relationships with local, state, and federal elected officials, as well as relationships with VEDP’s economic development partners across the Commonwealth; and convenes work groups and oversees special initiatives regarding policy development and program implementation
  • Real Estate Solutions: supports business attraction and expansion efforts by strategically developing a comprehensive statewide portfolio of project-ready sites and buildings and engaging economic development projects to address real estate needs

In addition to providing executive leadership for these three divisions, the SVP serves as a senior member of VEDP’s Executive Leadership Team, providing regular counsel and support to the President & CEO and other leadership team members on a variety of activities.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking a Supply Chain Program Specialist to assist with program outreach and provide support to Virginia businesses wishing to optimize their supply chain management processes through Virginia’s Supply Chain Optimization Program (SCOP). The Supply Chain Program Specialist will report to and support the Senior Supply Chain Program Manager.

This position is part of VEDP’s International Trade division, which is recognized as the leading state international trade development program in the U.S. VEDP’s International Trade division provides a range of resources such as customized market research, international business meetings, and grant programs to assist Virginia businesses with growing their international sales.

VEDP seeks to hire a Talent and Workforce Strategy Leader who will play a central role in positioning Virginia as a Top State for Talent by developing a strategy and coordinating across VEDP divisions, regional partners, and state government to implement the strategy.

While Virginia has long focused on meeting employers’ talent needs, efforts to truly differentiate Virginia as a Top State for Talent are in the early stages. VEDP has developed three strategic focus areas for this effort and is working to align our efforts with workforce development organizations, higher education, and other statewide talent stakeholders. VEDP’s primary strategic focus areas for talent are:

Retain and Attract Talent: Strengthening and highlighting the Commonwealth’s assets and economic opportunities is necessary to retain and attract the talent that will meet the demands of employers

Develop Talent that is Aligned to Employers’ Needs: Understanding industry needs and production of in-demand talent aligned with those needs is critical for creating pathways to opportunity and building a thriving workforce

Unlock Individual Potential by Reducing Barriers: To ensure Virginians engage in the labor force, the Commonwealth needs to reduce barriers to participation and advancement (e.g., childcare, transportation, housing)

The Vice President, Strategic Projects and Lead Generation (SP&LG) provides primary staff leadership for developing and implementing strategies to promote employment growth across 12 key sectors, including Data Centers, Electric Vehicles, Batteries, Semiconductors, Traditional Automotive, AgTech, Offshore Wind, Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing, Wood Products, Nuclear Energy, Quantum Computing, and MRO.

This position will be responsible for leading Virginia’s economic development efforts for targeted sector growth through a whole-of-government approach in close collaboration with state, regional, and local partners. Key areas of responsibility include strategy development and execution for target company recruitment to the Commonwealth.
