The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is the state economic development authority for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Created in 1995, VEDP collaborates with local, regional, and state partners to encourage the expansion and diversification of Virginia’s economy. VEDP works to accomplish these objectives through a variety of activities, including marketing and lead generation; business retention, expansion, and attraction; trade development; business intelligence; competitive benchmarking; site development; performance-based incentives; and talent solutions.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) seeks a Director for the Logistics Sector to lead and implement an air cargo gateway strategy leveraging Washington-Dulles International Airport to drive growth and investment in Virginia's logistics sector and attract investment from heavy air cargo use industries. This role focuses on expanding the air cargo logistics ecosystem, enhancing infrastructure efficiency, attracting cargo volume through Dulles cargo operations, developing KPIs to measure success, promoting innovation within the sector, and supporting investment in advanced manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and other targeted growth sectors. The Director will leverage market intelligence and collaborate with key stakeholders to position Virginia as the premier choice for air cargo logistics operations.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking a Global Research Specialist to provide project management and administrative support for VEDP’s Global Network Research Program.

The Global Research Specialist will support VEDP’s Global Network Research Program, where 25+ consultants collaborate with VEDP to provide research to Virginia businesses on foreign markets. This position will support research project workflow, assist in client meeting facilitation, review research findings, and process payments. This position reports to the Global Research Manager.

The position is part of VEDP’s International Trade Division, which is recognized as the leading state international trade development program in the U.S. The International Trade division provides a range of resources such as customized market research, international business meetings, and programs to help Virginia companies grow their international sales. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking a program administrator to join its Real Estate Solutions Division. This position will work with economic development partners and the grant program manager to administer VEDP’s grant programs, including financial reporting, budget updates, payment requests and invoicing, ensuring timely coordination and review of required appropriate project documentation and managing updates to stakeholders and supporting contract management. This is a new position, a successful candidate will need to be a self-starter and willing to learn on the job and create efficient processes.

This position will join a high-impact team that broadly focuses on analyzing, developing, and implementing real estate solutions for economic development projects across Virginia. The team collaborates and coordinates with partners (e.g., local and regional economic development organizations, utilities, state funding partners) and third-party private entities to strategically develop and maintain a comprehensive, statewide portfolio of project-ready industrial sites and other real estate options for the full range of economic development project types and sizes considering Virginia and its regions.  

VEDP seeks a Vice President of Economic Competitiveness to provide primary staff leadership for developing and implementing strategies to improve the foundations of state, regional, and local economic growth. The Vice President will lead a team of eight to accomplish the following: 

Competitiveness Research and Solution Development: Collaborate with VEDP’s senior leadership team to identify opportunities to improve Virginia’s business climate relative to competitor states (e.g., talent and workforce development, site development and infrastructure, tax and incentive policy, etc.), develop potential solutions to address identified gaps or enhance existing strengths, and engage stakeholders to ensure the long-term viability and sustainability of the solutions. 

As part of the broader portfolio of competitiveness research and solution development, the division is responsible for collaborating with VEDP’s Marketing and Communications division to regularly and comprehensively evaluate state business climate rankings to proactively develop and implement recommendations to improve Virginia’s standing.

Strategic and Operational Planning: Lead the process for developing VEDP’s annual Operational Plan and five-year Strategic Plan (updated every two years), including project and stakeholder management, research and analysis, and supporting VEDP staff in developing initiatives. 

Business Development Strategy Support: Support VEDP’s business development efforts including sector and industry strategies, generating insights from past activities to inform strategic priorities, and collaborating on initiatives to improve competitiveness for core sectors.

Special Projects and Initiatives: Lead and support discrete projects and workstreams for the organization and external partners as needed, including transformational economic development projects, General Assembly requests and Executive Directives, cross-divisional or cross-agency initiatives, and support for research or strategic questions posed by VEDP’s external stakeholders.
