The Team

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is the state economic development authority for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Created in 1995, VEDP collaborates with local, regional, and state partners to encourage the expansion and diversification of Virginia’s economy. VEDP works to accomplish these objectives through a variety of activities, including marketing and lead generation; business retention, expansion, and attraction; trade development; business intelligence; competitive benchmarking; site development; performance-based incentives; and talent solutions.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking an experienced economic development or industry professional to support the Vice President, Knowledge Work (KW), in executing industry growth strategies and leading the KW sector team. The Assistant Vice President (AVP) will provide primary leadership for the KW lead generation staff and assist in staff leadership for the broader team, engaging in the development and implementation of strategies to enhance Virginia’s competitiveness in the KW sector. The AVP KW assists in growth efforts through a whole-of-government approach in close collaboration with state, regional, and local partners. This individual will work within the KW team, which is responsible for the Aerospace & Defense Innovation, Business Services, Cybersecurity, Financial Services, and Software industries, which represent some of the Commonwealth's largest potential job growth opportunities.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking a Financial Analyst in the Incentives Division to provide support with financial due diligence and management of the data center MOUs.
 

We are looking for an Intern for the Economic Competitiveness Division during the summer of 2025 (10 weeks). This self-starting individual should be seeking on-the-job experience in economic development, policy development, and strategic analysis. Interns will complete a variety of projects with an emphasis on professional learning and development. 

VEDP is seeking a GIS and Cartography Intern in the Research Division during the summer of 2025 (10 weeks). The Intern will collaborate with the Cartography team on the creation and maintenance of cartographic products that help clients and staff understand the strengths of Virginia as a business location and secure new jobs and investment for the Commonwealth. The ideal candidate is seeking on-the-job experience in cartographic design within an established brand and utilizing GIS in a professional, economic development, and/or state government setting. 

VEDP is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented International Trade Intern during the summer of 2025 (10 weeks). This energetic, self-starting individual is seeking on-the-job experience in international trade research and will complete a variety of projects to support the development of innovative training programs for Virginia businesses. The ideal candidate will be passionate about market research, eager to explore international markets, and enthusiastic about creating impactful learning experiences related to international business.

VEDP is seeking an Intern in the Information Technology (IT) Division during the summer of 2025 (10 weeks). This division supports both VEDP and the Virginia Tourism Corporation, home of the “Virginia is For Lovers” brand. This tech-savvy individual is seeking entry-level experience in IT and will develop experience using a wide-range of corporate technologies. 

We are looking for an Intern for the Knowledge Work Division during the summer of 2025 (10 weeks). This division focuses on ecosystem building and lead generation in defined industries: Aerospace and Defense Innovation, Business and Financial Services, Cybersecurity, and Software. This energetic, self-starting individual should be seeking on-the-job experience in economic development, government and policy, ecosystem building, and domestic and international lead generation. Interns will complete a variety of projects with an emphasis on professional learning and development.

VEDP is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Intern to join the Manufacturing Sector Team during the summer of 2025. As part of this dynamic team, you have the opportunity to engage in meaningful research on new and evolving domestic industrial policies, with a focus on risk and resiliency in manufacturing supply chains, onshoring and reshoring global manufacturing to the United States and examining emerging investment opportunities tied to the Bio Secure Act. 

We are looking for an Intern for the Marketing & Communications Division during the summer of 2025 (10 weeks). This self-starting individual should be seeking on-the-job experience in branding, design, and marketing, while building durable, business, and technical skills in economic development. 

We are looking for an Intern for the Real Estate Solutions Division during the summer of 2024 (10 weeks). This energetic self-starting individual is seeking on-the-job experience in economic development site selection and will perform a variety of projects.

We are looking for an Intern for the Regional Talent Solutions and Business Outreach Division during the summer of 2025 (10 weeks.) This division engages with Virginia-based businesses to enhance industry partnerships and assists to market Virginia to new companies. This energetic, self-starting individual is seeking on-the-job experience in economic development, public administration, or business, and will play a critical supporting role in fulfilling the team’s primary responsibilities. The responsibilities of the intern may vary based on the applicant’s interest and experience. 

We are looking for an Intern for the Talent Accelerator Talent Acquisition Services team during the summer of 2025 (10 weeks). This energetic self-starting individual seeks on-the-job experience in talent acquisition and project management and will complete various projects emphasizing and combining learning and development with hands-on experience. The internship offers an exciting opportunity to work on multiple projects with the world’s most prestigious companies as they deploy leading-edge technologies at their new or expanding Virginia locations.

We are looking for an Intern for the Virginia Talent Accelerator Program’s Video Services Division during the summer of 2025 (10 weeks). The Video Services team produces recruitment, training and promotional video projects, traveling across Virginia to shoot in manufacturing plants, pharmaceutical companies and data centers. The Video Services team edits all videos in-house. This energetic self-starting individual is seeking on-the-job experience in video production and will complete a variety of projects with an emphasis on learning and development.

We are looking for an Intern for the Talent Accelerator/Visualization Services Team during the summer of 2025 (10 weeks). This energetic self-starting individual is seeking on-the-job experience in graphic design, web design and marketing for both electronic and printed mediums and will complete a variety of projects with an emphasis on talent recruiting and learning and development.
