AVID Medical to Build Plant, Create 100 New Jobs

Richmond - Governor George Allen today announced that AVID Medical, Inc., a newly-formed medical products company, will locate a $2.25 million plant in James City County, creating 100 new jobs over the next three years. AVID Medical's decision is the second major economic development announcement made in the past two months for James City County's Stonehouse Commerce Park.

Richmond - Governor George Allen today announced that Steag MicroTech Inc., and MicroHandling GmbH will locate facilities in Henrico County to service Virginia's semiconductor manufacturing facilities. Steag MicroTech Inc., will create 30 new jobs and invest $.5 million in Henrico's Byrd Center. MicroHandling GmbH will employ 30 people and invest $.5 million in the county's Villa Park III. Both companies are headquartered in Germany.

Henrico County - Governor George Allen joined officials of White Oak Semiconductor today to mark a significant milestone toward the completion of the $1.5 billion semiconductor manufacturing plant in Henrico County. Officials gathered to commend employees and celebrate the rapid advancement from green-field site to the first semiconductor tool installation for the new facility.
