Governor Gilmore Announces LandAmerica Expansion in Chesterfield County
April 2, 1998Expansion Will Result in 160 New Jobs for Virginians
Chesterfield County - Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore today announced the decision by LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc., to expand its operations in Virginia by creating an additional 160 jobs in Chesterfield County. LandAmerica, the largest family of title insurance companies in the United States, will lease an existing building located in the Gateway Centre office park. With transfers, total employment at the Chesterfield facility is expected to reach 417.
"LandAmerica is a respected company based here in the Commonwealth," said Governor Gilmore. "Corporate headquarters such as these greatly contribute to Virginia's attractive business climate. I am pleased that LandAmerica has decided to reinvest in our state and will again rely on our dedicated workforce to succeed."
Land America Financial Group, Inc., the holding company for Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company, Lawyers Title Insurance Corporation and Transnation Title Insurance Company, represents the largest family of title insurance underwriters in the country. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the Greater Richmond Partnership and the Chesterfield County Department of Economic Development assisted the company with its decision. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide workforce training services.
