Discovery, Inc. to invest $16 million to expand global technology and operations hub

RICHMOND—Governor Ralph Northam today announced that Discovery, Inc., an American media company and a worldwide leader in real life entertainment, intends to invest $16 million to expand its global technology and operations hub in Loudoun County. Virginia successfully competed against Maryland and New York for the project, which will create 240 new jobs.

ComSonics, Inc. to expand electronics manufacturing operation

RICHMOND—Governor Ralph Northam today announced that ComSonics, Inc., a world-class design, manufacturing, sales, and repair solutions provider for electronics and fiber optics, will invest $615,000 to expand its manufacturing operation in Augusta County. The company will purchase new equipment and make facility improvements to allow for additional space. In conjunction with this project, 34 new jobs will be created over a three-year period.

RICHMOND - Governor Terry McAuliffe today announced that Amazon will establish an e-commerce warehouse and distribution operation in Frederick County. The company plans to construct a new, one million-square-foot facility in the White Hall Commerce Center. Virginia successfully competed against West Virginia for the project, which will create more than 1,000 new jobs.

Dominion Outsourcing LLC to expand client engagement center

RICHMOND—Governor Ralph Northam today announced that Dominion Outsourcing LLC, a provider of outsourced services for the healthcare industry, will invest $370,000 to expand its client engagement center in Henrico County. The project will create 190 new jobs.

Company seeking to hire nearly 7,000 people over five years

NEWPORT NEWS—Governor Ralph Northam today announced that the Commonwealth of Virginia is initiating a unique partnership with Huntington Ingalls Industries’ (NYSE:HII) Newport News Shipbuilding division to support a major hiring initiative. Newport News Shipbuilding anticipates hiring almost 7,000 people, including the creation of 2,000 new jobs, in the City of Newport News over the next five years.

Company to retrain 115 employees on new equipment

RICHMOND—Governor Ralph Northam today announced that IMS Gear, a German-based manufacturer of automotive equipment, will invest $1.05 million to upgrade its CNC cutting machine in the City of Virginia Beach. The company’s 115 existing employees will be retrained to operate the new machinery with support from the Virginia Jobs Investment Program (VJIP).

RICHMOND—Governor Ralph Northam today announced that Auxiliary Systems Inc., an auxiliary system manufacturer for commercial and government clients in the marine industry, will invest $220,000 to upgrade its water jet cutting machine in the City of Norfolk. Sixty-five of the company’s existing employees will be retrained to operate the new machinery with support from the Virginia Jobs Investment Program (VJIP).
