$10 Million Facility To Employ Up To 400

Chesapeake - Governor George Allen today attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, celebrating their first Rapid Response Unit service center. The $10 million facility expects to employ more than 250 people when it opens in 1998, and as many as 400 in the future. Virginia successfully competed with New Jersey and Orlando, Florida, for the investment.

RICHMOND - The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) today announced the acceptance of a City of Richmond company, Hardywood Park Craft Brewery LLC, into its two-year Virginia Leaders in Export Trade (VALET) program. Launched in January 2002, the program assists exporters in the Commonwealth that have firmly established domestic operations and are committed to international exporting as an expansion strategy. Participating firms are chosen based on their dedication to growing export sales.

Emporia Manufacturer to Create 55 New Jobs

Richmond - Governor George Allen today announced that Creative Playthings, Ltd., a wooden swing-set manufacturer, will expand its existing manufacturing and distribution facilities in Emporia, creating approximately 55 new jobs over the next three years. The expansion will occur in three phases, generating $3.5 million in new capital investment.

American Fiber to Provide $2.5 Million Investment, 300 New Jobs

Richmond - Governor George Allen today announced that American Fiber Industries, Inc., a manufacturer of bed pillows and mattress pads, will invest $2.5 million to expand its Virginia operations in Henry County's Frith Industrial Park, creating approximately 300 new jobs by late 1998.

Richmond - Governor George Allen today announced the decision by Amfibe, Inc. to expand its operations in the Henry County Enterprise Zone, creating 60 new jobs for Virginians. Amfibe supplies fine denier nylon textile yarn used in various industrial, hosiery and intimate apparel applications.

ASB Greenworld Facility a Direct Result of Trade Mission

King and Queen County - Governor George Allen today announced that ASB Greenworld will locate a $3.6 million facility in King and Queen County, creating 24 new jobs. ASB Greenworld selected Virginia for its new facility after Governor Allen met with Helmut Aurenz, President and CEO of ASB Greenworld, during his recent European trade mission. Virginia successfully competed with North Carolina for the investment.
