RICHMOND - The Virginia Economic Development Partnership today announced the launch of VALET (Virginia Leaders in Export Trade), a new program designed to assist Virginia companies with international exporting. The first of its kind in the U.S., VALET will provide capital, expert guidance and concrete solutions for businesses committed to expanding into international markets.
RICHMOND - Governor Ralph Northam today announced that 13 companies from across the Commonwealth have graduated from the Virginia Leaders in Export Trade (VALET) Program, touting impressive results as they successfully exported products and services overseas. The VALET program, run by the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP), assists exporters in the Commonwealth that have firmly established their domestic operations and are committed to international exporting as a growth strategy.
CLARKSVILLE - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Star Scientific, Inc. will expand its manufacturing and processing facility in Mecklenburg County. The expansion will create 315 new jobs through a $49.9 million investment. Virginia successfully competed with North Carolina, Georgia, and Kentucky for this investment.
“This announcement is great news for Mecklenburg County and all of Southside Virginia,” said Governor Warner. “I am pleased that the Commonwealth was able to help the company bring more quality jobs to Mecklenburg County.”
RICHMOND - Virginia Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Barr Laboratories, Inc. will invest $7 million to expand its existing pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution facilities in Bedford County. The investment will create 75 new jobs in Forest, Virginia. Barr credited the pro-business philosophy at both the state and local levels in making its decision to expand the Bedford County facility over its other operations in Ohio, New Jersey and New York.
RICHMOND - Virginia Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Power Systems International, Inc., a manufacturer of mobile power generating systems for the military, will relocate from New York to Rockbridge County. The company will create 64 new jobs through a $2.5 million investment. Virginia successfully competed with West Virginia and Tennessee for the project.
RICHMOND - Virginia Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that The Boeing Company has opened a new air traffic management office in Fairfax County. Boeing established this start-up division to develop a new concept for national air traffic management. This concept addresses the critical need nationwide to enhance the security and safety of air transportation while increasing its capacity and efficiency. Boeing Air Traffic Management also has an office near Seattle, Washington.
RICHMOND - Virginia Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Frito-Lay unveiled an expansion plan that includes a $30 million investment and 100 new jobs. Virginia successfully competed with several other states for two additional product lines. Production will begin on the new Tostitos Scoops® in six months, with the second product line launching in eighteen months.

Warner today announced that Keystone Dyeing & Finishing, a manufacturer of custom textile products and dyeing services, will open a new manufacturing facility in Orange County. The relocation will create 125 new jobs through a $2.5 million investment. Virginia successfully competed with Rhode Island for the project.
CHARLOTTESVILLE - The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, in conjunction with the Thomas Jefferson Partnership for Economic Development, today announced the launch of the Passport Program in the Charlottesville region. Charlottesville is the fifth Virginia community to host this program.
RICHMOND - Virginia Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Danaher Power Solutions, a leading designer, manufacturer and provider of power quality and reliability products and services, will expand its operations in the Eastport Business Park in Henrico County. The expansion will create 180 new jobs and save 81 jobs through a $1.7 million investment. Virginia competed with Connecticut, Ohio, California and Texas for the expansion.
