RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that ITT Industries Night Vision (ITT) will invest up to $51.8 million to expand its facility capacity in Roanoke County and create 250 new jobs. The need for ITT’s increased production is the result of a continued swell in global demand for night vision products. The company also is preparing to produce a new product—procured and currently being tested by the U.S. Army—that combines thermal imaging and image intensification technology, the Enhanced Night Vision Goggle.

The company will create up to 500 positions providing service primarily to clients in the telecommunications industry. Virginia successfully competed against Texas and Washington for the project. The company is moving into a vacant building that J.Crew occupied more than four years ago, and operations are scheduled to begin in January 2006.

The company will handle the removal, recycling and remarketing of aging personal computer (PC) assets, creating up to 100 new technician jobs within 30 months.
