RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today made six job announcements today totaling 834 new jobs across Virginia. Amcor PET Packaging, a leading manufacturer of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic packaging for the global beverage, food and non-food industries, will effect a $105 million investment to develop a manufacturing operation in Wythe County's Progress Park, creating 144 new jobs. The company will supply hot fillable plastic bottles to the beverage industry. Virginia successfully competed against North Carolina for the project.

RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today made six job announcements totaling 834 new jobs across Virginia. Intermet Corporation, one of the world’s largest suppliers of cast-metal automotive components, will invest a total of $14.3 million to expand its Radford facility. Consolidation of other Intermet facilities will result in the expansion of manufacturing capability at the New River Foundry in Radford, including a $14.3 million investment and 175 new jobs over the next 30 months.

RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today made six job announcements today totaling 834 new jobs across Virginia. Diversified Information Technologies, a business process management firm specializing in document/data capture and conversion, will invest $10.16 million to open a customer support facility in Orange County. The project, providing business process solutions and records management services to financial institutions, healthcare providers and other public and private entities, will create 200 new jobs.

RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine announced today that American Industrial Heat Transfer, Inc., will invest $11 million to move its business from Illinois and build a facility in Roanoke River Regional Business Park in Southside Virginia. The manufacturer of heat exchangers will create 85 new jobs, including manufacturing, computer programming, maintenance, sales, and administrative positions. Virginia successfully competed against Alabama and Georgia for the project.

RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that The Mennel Milling Company, a milling operation in the Roanoke area for 32 years, will invest $30.8 million to move the company’s facility to Roanoke County from the City of Roanoke. The company is moving because its current location is where the biomedical park is planned for downtown. The decision to remain in Virginia results in 33 jobs saved for the Roanoke region. Virginia successfully competed against Ohio and Tennessee for the project.

 

RICHMOND - In two years, Universal Fiber Systems LLC, a leading producer of fibers and yarns for carpet, upholstery, automotive, industrial and other textile applications in Bristol, Virginia has increased international sales by 70 percent, established several new international customers and created a global sales network to increase the company’s coverage in China, Japan, Australia and throughout Southeast Asia.

RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Reline America, Inc. will invest $4.9 million to build its manufacturing headquarters facility in Saltville. The company, whose technology repairs utility pipes without excavation of the infrastructure, will create 25 new jobs for Smyth County.

Positions will include engineers and skilled manufacturing jobs, with an average annual salary of $38,000. Virginia successfully competed against Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Tennessee for the project.

RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Unarco Industries, Inc., a shopping cart manufacturer, will invest approximately $9 million and create 194 new jobs in Danville. The company will hire welders and assemblers for its projected opening in April. Virginia successfully competed against Pennsylvania for the project.

RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that MeadWestvaco Corporation (NYSE: MWV), a global packaging company, has chosen the Greater Richmond area for its corporate headquarters. The company is in the process of determining the specific location that will best meet its long-term facility needs.

RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Lees Commercial Carpets, a division of Mohawk Industries Inc., will invest $26.6 million to expand its manufacturing facility in Rockbridge County. The expansion project will create at least 25 new jobs and necessitate retraining for 150 current jobs.
