Governor attends ribbon-cutting ceremony for $520 million facility

Prince William County, VA - Governor Jim Gilmore today attended the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for a state-of-the-art technology center built by America Online, Inc. (NYSE: AOL), the world's leading interactive services company, in Prince William County, Virginia. America Online initially broke ground on the facility in March 1999, and construction was completed in February 2000.

Company will create 130 new jobs and invest $10 million

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that First Data Resources, Inc. will expand operations in the City of Chesapeake. The company will invest $10 million for a new print and mail operation located at 1408 Stephanie Way. First Data anticipates creating up to 130 new jobs for the operation within the next three years. First Data opened a credit card personalization and distribution center in Chesapeake in April 1999.

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced Sykes Enterprises, Incorporated, an information technology company based in Tampa, Fl., will locate a new customer technical support center in Wise County. The company could create up to 400 new jobs through a minimum investment of $7 million.

Virginia company to create 1,000 new jobs

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced Capital One's decision to consolidate its Northern Virginia operations in Fairfax County. The move will create 1,000 new jobs in the Commonwealth, increasing the number of Virginians employed by Capital One to approximately 12,000. Virginia successfully competed with Maryland for the investment.

Company to invest $13 million in manufacturing facility

EBCI, a start-up company founded by Virginian and construction veteran Ron Mullins, expects to create 100 new jobs over the next three years. National Catalog Corporation to expand operations

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that National Catalog Corporation (NCC), a division of Distribution Associates, will expand its operations in the Martinsville/Henry County area. The company will create 875 jobs over the next six months through a $2.5 million investment.

Toshiba and SanDisk flash memory joint venture to create 600 new jobs

Manassas - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced Toshiba Corporation and SanDisk Corporation have signed an agreement to create a new semiconductor company, FlashVision LLC, to produce advanced flash memory at Dominion Semiconductor in Manassas. The agreement will result in 600 new jobs for Virginia at the fabrication plant through a $700 million investment. Virginia successfully competed with Japan and Taiwan for the major project.

Nationwide Homes to expand manufacturing plant

Martinsville - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced Nationwide Homes, a manufacturer of systems-built modular homes, will expand its Martinsville facility and create 170 new jobs for the region over the next 30 months. The company has operated the plant in Martinsville since 1959. Virginia successfully competed with Georgia for the $3 million investment.
