RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Dollar Tree Stores, Inc., the nation's leading operator of single-price point dollar stores, will expand its corporate headquarters in Chesapeake by 75,000-square-feet. The expansion, which includes additional office space, a new data center, regional training facilities, and an auditorium, will create 100 new jobs. The project is in addition to the company’s current 120,000-square-foot headquarters facility and 400,000-square-foot distribution center in Chesapeake, both of which opened in 1997.

RICHMOND - The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) today announced the acceptance of three Hampton Roads companies, Catalina Cylinders Cliff Impact of Hampton, Dynamic Towing Equipment & Manufacturing, Inc. of Norfolk, and LifeNet of Virginia Beach, into its two-year Virginia Leaders in Export Trade (VALET) program. Launched in January 2002, the program assists exporters in the Commonwealth that have firmly established domestic operations and are committed to international exporting as an expansion strategy.

RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Wellborn Cabinet, Inc. will invest $3 million to open a cabinet manufacturing operation in Smyth County. The company, which will occupy the former Vaughan-Bassett facility, will create 100 new jobs for the region. Virginia successfully competed against Kentucky, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and West Virginia for the project.

RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that 1,000 jobs at Bristol Compressors will be saved through the purchase of Bristol Compressors by KPS Capital Partners, a New York-based investment firm. The KPS transaction will provide access to substantial capital to be invested in the further development of Bristol Compressors International, the company’s new name under KPS ownership. The Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Revitalization Commission and Washington County committed a combined $1 million to assist KPS with the transaction.

RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Criticon, a data processing and preparation host, will invest $115 million to open a 150,000-square-foot co-location data storage center in the City of Harrisonburg. The project will create 25 new jobs paying an average $80,000 salary.
