Nationwide Homes to expand manufacturing plant

Martinsville - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced Nationwide Homes, a manufacturer of systems-built modular homes, will expand its Martinsville facility and create 170 new jobs for the region over the next 30 months. The company has operated the plant in Martinsville since 1959. Virginia successfully competed with Georgia for the $3 million investment.

Naval Nuclear Fuel Division to add 320 jobs in Campbell County

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that BWX Technologies, Inc., a defense contractor, will expand its Naval Nuclear Fuel Division in Campbell County. The company will create 320 jobs over the next three years through a $41.1 million investment. Virginia successfully competed with Georgia, Tennessee, Washington and Idaho for the expansion.

50 jobs created as a result of company's $50 million investment

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced approval of a $200,000 grant from the Governor's Opportunity Fund to assist the City of Danville with site preparation for a maintenance training facility. The grant supports 50 jobs and an investment of $50 million that The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company made in its Danville manufacturing plant.

Governor Names Norfolk Southern's David Goode Conference Chair

Richmond - Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that the Commonwealth of Virginia will host the 25th Annual Joint Meeting of the Southeast United States-Japan Association (SEUS) and the Japan-United States Southeast Association, in Norfolk, September 30 through October 3, 2000. The Governor also named David R. Goode, Chairman, President and CEO of Norfolk Southern Corporation, chair for the 2000 conference. 

Governor Gilmore announces 200 new jobs for Southwest Virginia

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Raleigh Mine and Industrial Supply will expand its Tazewell County operation and also locate a new facility there. The expansion will create 200 new jobs for Virginians through a $5 million investment. In addition, Raleigh's existing 49 employees in the county will be retained. Virginia successfully competed with West Virginia and Kentucky for the investment. 

Company will create 1,400 new jobs for New River Valley; EchoStar to hold hiring expo

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that EchoStar Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH, DISHP) will build a new customer service center in Montgomery County to serve its more than 3.4 million DISH Network satellite TV customers nationwide. The company will create 1,400 new jobs for Virginians. The Commonwealth successfully competed with Texas for the $16 million investment.
