Governor Gilmore announces 150 new jobs for Virginians
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced Litton TASC's decision to relocate its corporate headquarters from Reading, Mass. to Fairfax County. The company, a subsidiary of Litton Industries, will create 150 new jobs through a $3.1 million investment.
"TASC has enjoyed a long, rich history in the Commonwealth," said Governor Gilmore. "From 1977, when TASC opened its first Virginia office in Rosslyn, to today with more than 1,500 skilled professionals employed throughout the state, TASC has always pushed the frontiers of the information revolution - and demonstrated remarkably consistent growth in the process."
TASC provides advanced information technology solutions for government and business worldwide in such areas as systems development, signals intelligence, federal services, space systems, and information services. Founded in 1966, Litton TASC has more than 25 offices and 3,000 employees throughout the United States.
"More than 60 percent of our customers are in Northern Virginia," said James H. Frey, Litton vice president and TASC president. "The most visible way to demonstrate our commitment to them and be on equal footing with competitors is to establish our headquarters here. It's part of the natural evolution of our business."
"It gives me pleasure to acknowledge TASC's new headquarters in Fairfax County," said Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade, Barry E. DuVal. "The Commonwealth continues to succeed in recruiting high technology industries."
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership and the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority assisted the company with its decision. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide workforce training services to the company.
