Governor Gilmore announces Precision Technology Group's decision to create 100 new jobs

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Precision Technology Group of Great Britain (PTG) has chosen Roanoke City for the headquarters of its new North American division, Precision Technology USA. Precision Technology plans to employ more than 100 people and invest more than $2 million over the next six years. The company plans to occupy a former Tultex building in the city. Virginia successfully competed with Ohio for the investment.

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Sterling Semiconductor, Inc., a subsidiary of Uniroyal Technology Corporation, will expand its operations in Loudoun County. The company will invest approximately $30 million in the expansion which will create up to 172 jobs. Virginia successfully competed with Connecticut and Florida for the investment.

Fairfax County - Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that GlobalCenter Inc. has officially opened its second data center in Fairfax County. GlobalCenter, a subsidiary of Global Crossing Ltd., is expected to house over 150 new jobs at this facility.

The company plans to employ 150 people during its first three years of operation and invest $12.5 million.

176 new jobs created in Isle of Wight County

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Smithfield Foods, Inc. will expand its Smithfield Packing Company facility in Isle of Wight County creating 176 new jobs for Virginians. The expansion will incorporate a special packaging process extending the shelf life of the company's popular meat products. Smithfield Foods will invest $3.9 million in the expansion.

DaiEi Papers to relocate headquarters and build paper facility

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that DaiEi Papers (USA) Corporation will locate a new manufacturing facility in the City of Chesapeake. The company will invest $10.5 million in the new facility while creating up to 105 new jobs. Virginia successfully competed with South Carolina for the investment.

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Cost Plus, Inc. will locate its next major distribution center at the Shirley T. Holland Commerce Park in Isle of Wight County. The 500,000 square foot facility, will create approximately 160 new jobs over the next 30 months and will result in a total investment of over $20 million. Virginia successfully competed with Kansas for this center.

Students across Virginia obtain practical experience through marketing program

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that two Virginia companies have received the prestigious Governor's Award for Excellence for their participation in the Virginia Economic Development Partnership's (VEDP) International Market Planning (IMP) Program. VEDP Executive Director Mark Kilduff presented the awards to the winning companies and their partnering students and professors today in Roanoke at the 52nd Virginia Conference on World Trade.

NTELOS invests over $9 million

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that CFW Communications, doing business as NTELOS, will locate a new customer care facility in the PortCentre I Building in Portsmouth. This call center will create 250 new jobs for Virginians and result in $9.6 million in total investment. Virginia successfully competed with West Virginia for the project.
