Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that ASTROLINK International LLC, a next generation global broadband wireless service company will locate its Network Operations Center (NOC) in the INNOVATION @ Prince William Technology Park. ASTROLINK will invest approximately $205 million in the new center, and could employ as many as 250 people. Virginia successfully competed with several other states for this investment.

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC), a world leader in Internet security technology, plans to build a major product development facility in the City of Newport News. The company expects to invest $22 million in a building that will accommodate 300 full-time employees. Virginia successfully competed with a number of Symantec's other North American sites to host this facility. 

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Sara Lee Coffee & Tea will invest $93 million and create more than 100 new jobs by expanding its coffee roasting and packaging facility in Suffolk. The expansion will implement the latest technology to produce Douwe Egberts, a new liquid coffee. Virginia successfully competed with Texas for this investment. 

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Hanmi International Corporation, headquartered in Seoul, Korea, will locate its new manufacturing site in the PortCentre Commerce Park in Portsmouth. Within five years, the facility will employ 170 new workers and invest a total of $12.5 million. Virginia successfully competed with Florida for this investment. 

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Invicta Networks will expand its headquarters facility in the Renaissance Park in Fairfax County. Invicta will hire 100 new employees through an investment of $3 million. The company originally relocated from Maryland to its current Herndon address in November 2000. Invicta will hire technical and managerial employees as well as research and development staff. 

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Biovail Technologies, Inc., a pharmaceutical development company, will increase its presence in Fairfax County by expanding its Chantilly operations and relocating its nutraceutical subsidiary, Nutravail Technologies Inc., from Sterling. The new location in an existing Westfields facility will result in 40 new jobs and a $4.6 million investment. 

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Maple Leaf Bakery will expand its current distribution center in the Roanoke Centre for Industry and Technology. Maple Leaf will hire 45 new employees and invest an additional $11 million to create a new training center and classroom. In April 1997, the company announced the creation of 150-180 jobs and a $22 million investment. Virginia competed with Pennsylvania, Maryland and North Carolina for the investment. 

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that AFFINA has selected Bridgeway Commerce Park in Suffolk as the site for its new 40,000-square-foot customer contact center. Through an investment of $5 million, this center will support the expansion of 1-800-MEDICARE. The AFFINA contact center will employ up to 450 individuals. Virginia successfully competed with North Carolina for this investment. 

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Northwood Manufacturing will locate its operations in an existing building in the Winchester Industrial Park. The company, a producer and manufacturer of travel and recreation vehicles, will invest $4.2 million to occupy a former travel trailer manufacturing facility. The company will employ 200 people at the production site. Virginia successfully competed with Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama for this investment. 

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that TeleCorp PCS, Inc. will locate an inbound call center in Lebanon, in Russell County. Through an investment of $4.6 million, TeleCorp will hire 300 new employees to handle billing, coverage, technical and general support questions for its customers. Virginia successfully competed with Iowa and Tennessee for this investment.
