RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Cendant Corporation, a leading provider of travel and residential real estate services, will create 100 new jobs in the City of Virginia Beach. The company will locate a human resources call center in the Avis Building located at 300 Centre Pointe Drive. This facility will serve Cendant’s more than 50,000 U.S. employees. Virginia successfully competed with New Jersey for the investment.

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore Wednesday night announced in his State of the Commonwealth Address that annual capital investment by new and existing Virginia companies exceeded $6 billion for the first time in 2000. According to the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the previous record of $5.8 billion, set in 1995, was surpassed with last month's expansion announcement by Infineon Technologies Richmond. The final annual total will be released in early 2001 after Virginia's localities submit their economic development data to the Partnership.
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced The Rochester Corporation, a unit of Tyco Electronics Corporation, will expand its manufacturing plant in Culpeper County. The Company will create 35 new jobs for Virginians through a $10 million investment. Virginia successfully competed with Georgia and Ohio for the investment.
WINCHESTER - The Passport Program officially began in the Northern Shenandoah Valley today with a kick-off luncheon to introduce the program to area businesses. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) combined efforts with the Winchester-Frederick County Economic Development Commission, the Front Royal-Warren County Economic Development Authority, the Winchester-Frederick County and Front Royal-Warren County Chambers of Commerce, the Shenandoah County Office of Economic Development and the Clarke County Office of Economic Development to organize this event.
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced Heat Transfer Specialties (HTS), a subsidiary of Entrodyne Corporation, will locate in the Rockbridge Regional Industrial Park in the City of Buena Vista. The relocation of HTS from Jeffersonville, Indiana, to Buena Vista will involve an investment in facilities, equipment, and improvements of approximately $3.5 million. Employment will total roughly 250, including assemblers, welders, electricians, and support personnel. Virginia successfully competed with Indiana and Kentucky for this project.
Richmond - Representatives from the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) and businesses across the Commonwealth will participate in CeBIT 2001, to be held in Hannover, Germany March 22-28. CeBIT is the world's largest trade fair for information technology and telecommunications. This show attracts over 750,000 visitors and more than 8,000 exhibitors, showcasing the latest technology from 60 countries around the world.
Eastern Panel Manufacturing to expand manufacturing operation creating 15 new jobs
RICHMOND - Governor Ralph Northam today announced that Eastern Panel Manufacturing, Inc. (EPM), a custom plywood manufacturer, will invest $1 million to expand its manufacturing operation in Pittsylvania County. EPM will move to a 55,000-square-foot facility in the Chatham Industrial Park to accommodate future growth. This project will create 15 new jobs.
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced VIMCO Inc., a subsidiary of Lutron Electronics Company, Inc., will construct a new manufacturing facility in the Northlake Industrial Park in Hanover County. The companies will invest more than $6 million in this project, creating 105 new jobs and retaining the 45 employees that currently work at a VIMCO facility in Henrico County.
