RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Keystone Dyeing & Finishing, a manufacturer of custom textile products and dyeing services, will open a new manufacturing facility in Orange County. The relocation will create 125 new jobs through a $2.5 million investment. Virginia successfully competed with Rhode Island for the project.

CHARLOTTESVILLE - The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, in conjunction with the Thomas Jefferson Partnership for Economic Development, today announced the launch of the Passport Program in the Charlottesville region. Charlottesville is the fifth Virginia community to host this program.

RICHMOND - Virginia Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Danaher Power Solutions, a leading designer, manufacturer and provider of power quality and reliability products and services, will expand its operations in the Eastport Business Park in Henrico County. The expansion will create 180 new jobs and save 81 jobs through a $1.7 million investment. Virginia competed with Connecticut, Ohio, California and Texas for the expansion.

SUFFOLK - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Target Corporation will invest $65 million in a new East Coast import warehouse in the City of Suffolk. The investment will allow Target to hire 250 employees initially, and another 250 within three years, totaling 500 new employees for the 1.5 million-square-foot Target Stores facility. Virginia successfully competed with Georgia and South Carolina for the project.

RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that for the second year in a row, Site Selection, a widely read economic development trade magazine, named the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) a “Top Development Group” for 2001. 

RICHMOND - The Virginia Economic Development Partnership’s (VEDP) Division of International Trade today announced plans to attend Farnborough International 2002 to promote the export of Virginia products and services. The year’s largest aerospace trade show, Farnborough International 2002 will be held in Farnborough, England July 22-28, 2002. VEDP’s Division of International Trade is inviting Virginia aerospace companies to join the state at this world-renowned trade show to seek export opportunities.

RICHMOND - The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) today announced the results of the Commonwealth’s first survey of the state’s service-based companies. Conducted in 2001, more than 5,500 Virginia professional service firms responded. Recognizing the fact that Virginia’s economy includes growing numbers of service-based companies, VEDP’s Division of International Trade designed the survey to determine the number of Virginia service companies that export and the overall value of these services.

RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that WAM!NET, a global provider of secure, digital content delivery and hosting solutions, has opened its Government Services division headquarters in Herndon, VA and plans to create more than 200 new jobs through a $1.5 million investment in Fairfax County. Virginia successfully competed with Maryland and Washington D.C. for the project.

 

RICHMOND - The Virginia Economic Development Partnership’s (VEDP) Division of International Trade recently brought home praise and successful results from its recent visit to Saudi Arabia. Receiving the Virginia delegation, U.S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Robert W. Jordan praised the Commonwealth as the first U.S. delegation to call on Saudi Arabian companies for international trade since September’s terrorist attacks.
