MCLEAN - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that technology and defense powerhouse Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) is moving its corporate headquarters from San Diego to the company’s McLean campus in Fairfax County. The scientific, engineering, and technology applications company plans to invest $25 million as part of the relocation and is expected to create 1,200 new jobs over the next three years, adding to its current base of approximately 17,500 employees in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area.

Kaine today announced that Japan Tobacco International (JTI) Leaf Services (US) plans to invest $19.5 million to establish a tobacco processing facility in the City of Danville, creating 39 full-time jobs and 150 seasonal positions when fully operational. The local company, JTI Leaf Services, will process both flue-cured and burley tobacco in the United States and ship to international markets.
RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. will invest $8.9 million to expand in Middletown in Frederick County, creating 50 jobs. The company will add a new medical liquid formula line to its existing operations at its Middletown facility, which produces clinical diagnostics products.
