RICHMOND - The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) Board of Directors selected its new Chair, Chris A. Lumsden of South Boston, and Vice Chair, C. Daniel Clemente of McLean. The appointments were effective at the conclusion of the quarterly VEDP board meeting on June 4, 2015. As a state authority, the Partnership is governed by a 24-member Board of Directors comprised of businesspersons from around Virginia, each of whom is appointed by the Governor and the General Assembly.

Lumsden, a native of Roanoke and former VEDP board Vice Chair, has served as Administrator and President of Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital since 1988, and succeeds Donald Seale, former Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Norfolk Southern Corporation.

“VEDP is an outstanding organization with a committed and talented Board of Directors and executive leadership team,” said Lumsden. “We will work closely with Governor McAuliffe, members of the General Assembly and our many statewide partners to create and retain jobs and raise the standard of living for all Virginians. It is my honor to serve the VEDP and Commonwealth.” 

Clemente is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Clemente Development Company, Inc., and CDC Consulting Group, Inc. in Tysons.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, a marketing organization, was created by the Virginia General Assembly in 1995 to encourage, stimulate, and support the development and expansion of the economy of the Commonwealth. To accomplish its objectives of promoting economic expansion within the Commonwealth, the Partnership focuses its efforts on business recruitment, expansion and international trade. VEDP has offices in Virginia, China, Germany, Japan, India and the United Kingdom.
