RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that U.S. Components, LLC, a manufacturer of roof, floor and wall trusses, will invest $6.4 million to open its first Virginia manufacturing facility in the West Point Industrial Park shell building in the Town of West Point. The project will create 104 new jobs. Virginia successfully competed against North Carolina for the project.
“More than 100 new job opportunities is outstanding news for the region, and U.S. Components offers an above-average annual wage and benefits,” said Governor Kaine. “West Point will benefit from the diversity that U.S. Components adds to the industrial base, as well as employment opportunities that fit within the community’s strategic plan for development.”
U.S. Components, headquartered in Moorestown, New Jersey, is the manufacturing division of Pro-Build Holdings, Inc., the nation’s largest supplier of building materials to professional contractors. It currently operates manufacturing plants in Morrisville, Pennsylvania; Kings Mountain, North Carolina; and Berlin and Lakewood, New Jersey, and expects a Nichols, South Carolina plant to come online in 2007.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with the Town of West Point to secure the project for Virginia. Governor Kaine approved a $100,000 grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to assist West Point with the project. The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development also approved a $700,000 Virginia Community Development Block Grant (VCDBG) to assist West Point with the project. The $700,000 VCDBG grant is the largest award that can be made through the program. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will support the project with training assistance through its Workforce Services Jobs Investment Program.
