DANVILLE - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Columbia Flooring is expanding its manufacturing facility in Danville. The $13.5 million expansion will ultimately result in approximately 200 new jobs in Virginia’s Southside region.

“Columbia Flooring’s decision to expand its operations in Danville further proves the company’s commitment to the Commonwealth,” said Governor Warner. “They recognize and will continue to reap the benefits of the strong work ethic in Southside Virginia and the availability of raw materials in the region.”

Columbia Flooring is headquartered in Danville, Virginia, and has manufacturing operations in Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. A wholly owned subsidiary of Columbia Forest Products, Columbia flooring is a leading manufacturer and marketer of hardwood and laminate flooring.

“We’re very committed to the Danville community,” Columbia President David Wootton said. “The area has provided us with an outstanding workforce, which has contributed to our tremendous growth over the past five years. And our Danville engineered hardwood flooring plant is an example of operational excellence throughout the entire corporation.”

"Columbia Flooring's decision to expand its Danville facility is a strong vote of confidence in the region's quality workforce and pro-business climate," said City Manager Jerry L. Gwaltney. "These are much-needed jobs for the citizens of Danville. On behalf of Danville City Council, I would like to thank Columbia Flooring for the confidence shown today with their decision."

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership and the City of Danville’s Office of Economic Development assisted Columbia Flooring with its decision.
