RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Microwave Circuits, Inc., a manufacturer of components for communications equipment, has decided to relocate its headquarters from Washington, D.C. to the City of Lynchburg. Through a $2.1-million investment, the company will create 200 new, high-paying jobs for Lynchburg. Located in the Kemper Building in downtown Lynchburg, Microwave Circuits will manufacture its new, patent pending technology for use in homeland security and Department of Defense applications.
“Microwave Circuits’ decision to relocate its headquarters to the City of Lynchburg brings great opportunity to the Commonwealth,” said Governor Warner. “Microwave Circuits will broaden the region’s developing homeland security and defense technology markets, as well as provide 200 great new jobs in the Lynchburg area.”
Microwave Circuits, Inc. is an industry-leading provider of high-performance RF and microwave communications filters, diplexers, and duplexers. Founded in 1994, they have served the high quality commercial and defense filter markets for a decade. The product line is divided into seven major categories: Bandpass Filters; Lowpass Filters; Highpass Filters; Notch Filters; Diplexers/Duplexers; Multiplexers/Combiners; and Integrated Assemblies. They have more than 20 network analyzer test stations, and in-house vibration and environmental test capabilities.
“The high-tech corridor between Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, and the four colleges in the Lynchburg area will support a highly technical base to fulfill our employment needs,” said Jim D’Ostilio, President of Microwave Circuits.
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, Region 2000, and the City of Lynchburg Office of Economic Development assisted Microwave Circuits with its relocation decision. The company will take advantage of the Virginia Department of Business Assistance’s Workforce Services Program.
