RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that M&H Plastics, a British company, will locate its first U.S. facility in Frederick County. The manufacturer of plastic bottles, caps and tubes for the personal care market will create 57 new jobs through a $12 million capital investment. Virginia successfully competed with Georgia, North Carolina, Maryland and Canada for the project.
“I am pleased to welcome M&H Plastics to the Commonwealth of Virginia,” said Governor Warner. “This significant investment is great news for the Winchester-Frederick County region as M&H joins several other first-rate plastics firms. I applaud the efforts of the state, region and county for their success in recruiting M&H Plastics.”
Headquartered in the Town of Beccles in Suffolk, England, M&H Plastics is a privately owned company specializing in the production and decoration of high quality plastic bottles, caps and flexible tubes for the personal care market. The aim of the company is to provide top quality and service at a competitive price. With this in mind, there is great emphasis on technical innovation and reinvestment in the latest machinery and equipment. Access to Dulles International Airport for its international customers played a key role in the company’s decision. The Virginia Inland Port may be utilized by M&H in the future.
“The reason we selected Virginia as our preferred location for our USA plant was a combination of geographical location with respect to our main customer base and the ease of travel to and from the UK, the quality and availability of the local work force, and the business-friendly attitude of the Commonwealth of Virginia,” said John Anderton, Managing Director of M&H Plastics. “Among the existing customers already supplied by M&H Plastics in the United States are Estée Lauder, Andrew Jergens, Crabtree & Evelyn, Herbalife, The Body Shop, Elizabeth Arden and Wella.”
Governor Warner approved a $100,000 grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to assist Frederick County with site preparation. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the Winchester-Frederick County Economic Development Commission, and Frederick County assisted M&H Plastics with its decision. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide workforce training services.

I am pleased to welcome another international firm to Frederick County.”
