RICHMOND - The Virginia Economic Development Partnership’s (VEDP) Division of International Trade will host a business delegation from Mexico May 13-17, 2002. A select group of 14 Mexican environmental and information technology companies will visit Richmond and Northern Virginia, seeking business partnerships with Virginia firms.
As part of its mission to promote the export of Virginia products and services, VEDP’s Division of International Trade invites Virginia companies interested in one-on-one appointments to contact the organization. Discussions will focus on the sale of Virginia products into Mexico and the commercial representation of Virginia products by Mexican companies. This is the fifth time that VEDP has hosted a group of foreign buyers in the past two years and the second visit by Mexican companies.
In 2001, Mexico was Virginia’s fourth largest export destination with more than $762 million in exports, nearly an 18 percent increase from 2000. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, a marketing organization, was created by the Virginia General Assembly in 1995 to encourage, stimulate and support the development and expansion of the economy of the Commonwealth. The Partnership is a state authority, which is governed by a 15-member Board of Directors appointed by the Governor. To accomplish its objectives of promoting economic expansion within the Commonwealth, the Partnership focuses its efforts on business development and international trade.
