Governor Gilmore Announces Envipco's Agreement to Distribute Products to Brazil

Virginia company to export container recycling equipment to Brazilian environmental remediation fir

Sao Paulo, Brazil - At a signing ceremony today at the United States Commercial Center in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Governor Jim Gilmore announced that Chantilly, Virginia-based Environmental Products Corporation (Envipco) has signed a distribution agreement to export container recycling equipment to Boa Hora/Tech Lix, a Brazilian environmental remediation firm. This new relationship will foster the first introduction of beverage container recycling technology in Brazil. The announcement came as a result of the Governor’s 13-day trade mission to Brazil, Chile and Argentina.

"Envipco is taking a progressive step in international trade by establishing new marketing initiatives in Brazil," Governor Gilmore said. "This announcement signifies a larger relationship between Virginia and Brazilian companies."

Envipco is a designer, manufacturer, and operator of container recycling equipment and services. Established in 1979, the firm employs nearly 300 in the United States, and has annual sales of $35 million. The Fairfax County facility employs approximately 50 people including senior management, research, design, and information systems personnel. The company’s products are primarily sold in the 10 U.S. states with mandatory recycling laws. In addition to manufacturing the equipment units, the company derives a significant portion of revenue from the accounting and software services associated with the recycling program. 

Boa Hora/Tech Lix, established in 1991, is a national leader in the Brazilian environmental remediation sector. The firm specializes in the treatment of manufacturing effluent with particular emphasis on the metals industry, including aluminum can manufacturing. Like many South American countries, Brazil continues to establish and enforce tougher environmental protection laws.

As the first Virginia Governor to travel to South America for trade development purposes, Governor Gilmore has planned meetings with numerous South American government officials and business leaders in Brazil, Chile and Argentina. High profile events and prospect meetings in these countries will help open new markets for Virginia products and services, port activity and agriculture.
