Governor Gilmore announces LandAmerica subsidiary to employ 250
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Elliptus Technologies, a subsidiary of Richmond-based LandAmerica, will relocate its Houston, Texas corporate headquarters to Chesterfield County. The company will eventually employ 250 in a 20,000-square-foot facility, investing $50 million in Virginia. The Commonwealth successfully competed with Texas, Utah and North Carolina for the investment.
"I welcome this exciting company to Virginia," said Governor Gilmore. "Elliptus will find a stimulating and profitable work environment in the Commonwealth."
Elliptus was established in Denver, Colorado in 1984 and later became a subsidiary of Lawyers Title Insurance Company, which recently became LandAmerica Financial Group. Elliptus is a technology solution company that develops innovative software designed for the real estate and title insurance industry. Elliptus recently announced TitleQuest 2000, the first Internet browser based title production in the title industry.
"We're excited about moving our headquarters to the Richmond area," said Steve G. Shubick, the company's Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. "This move will enable us to work closely with our Virginia based parent company, LandAmerica. We look forward to being an active member of the local business community."
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the Greater Richmond Partnership and the Chesterfield County Department of Economic Development assisted Elliptus Technologies with its decision. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide workforce training services.
