Company to Invest $6 Million, Create 60 New Jobs
Richmond - Governor George Allen today announced the decision by Amfibe, Inc. to expand its operations in the Henry County Enterprise Zone, creating 60 new jobs for Virginians. Amfibe supplies fine denier nylon textile yarn used in various industrial, hosiery and intimate apparel applications.

Amfibe was founded in 1994 by Larry McDorman and Ken Martin who acquired a division of Dupont's nylon textile business. The company will also relocate its current facility from the Smith River Business Campus to a new building in the Martinsville Industrial Park as part of the expansion.
"We are very excited about the construction of our own facility," said Larry McDorman, president and chief executive officer of Amfibe, Inc. "Furthermore, the ability to continue to maintain our existing workforce and utilize the local labor force for future growth is very desirable for our business."
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the Patrick Henry Economic Development Council, Henry County and the City of Martinsville worked together in assisting the company with its decision. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide workforce training services to the company.
