Governor Allen Welcomes Multinational Company to Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center
Richmond - Governor George Allen today announced the decision by Long-Airdox Company, a multinational manufacturer of coal mining equipment to relocate its international corporate headquarters to the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center in Blacksburg. Approximately 65 new jobs will be created in Blacksburg from the move. During his recent trade mission to Europe, Governor Allen communicated with officials from Long-Airdox to discuss the company's plans for the headquarters' relocation and $2.5 million investment.
"I am pleased to welcome Long-Airdox's worldwide headquarters and research facility to the Commonwealth," said Governor Allen. "From recruiting highly-skilled engineering graduates to developing the latest mining technology, Long-Airdox will reap the rewards of Virginia Tech's Corporate Research Center by digging deep into the fertile soil of Virginia."
Long-Airdox's decision to relocate its headquarters to Virginia will give the company enhanced access to advanced engineering expertise in order to improve product quality and customer support services.
"We are excited about our move to Virginia," said Ian Menzies, president of Long-Airdox. "All of our engineering and manufacturing resources will now be in one location. At the Corporate Research Center at Virginia Tech we will have access to other research companies located in the park and access to qualified engineers graduating from the school. This move allows us to improve our operating efficiencies and consolidate and grow our engineering talent."
