State and Business Representatives Aim to Build on 1996 Success
Richmond - The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP), Virginia's Center for Innovative Technology (CIT), and business leaders across the Commonwealth will participate in COMDEX/Fall '97 to be held November 17-21 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The delegation will promote Virginia products and services by cultivating new contacts and assisting Virginia companies in selling to the international marketplace. Respected as one of the world's largest information technology trade shows, COMDEX/Fall '97 attracts more than 220,000 visitors from over 120 countries each year.
"COMDEX/Fall '97 was part of BDM's initial marketing campaign for Cybershield, a secure Internet firewall," said William F. Dawson, senior vice president of information systems at BDM International's McLean, Virginia office. "Our involvement with the Virginia booth proved to be an asset to us, allowing a broader exposure to prospective leads and contacts made domestically and with foreign companies. BDM intends to return to COMDEX/Fall '97."
Companies who attend COMDEX/Fall '97 with the Virginia delegation will exhibit in their own turnkey booth located inside the Virginia Pavilion, a 2,000 square foot space in the Sands Expo and Convention Center. Participating firms will have the opportunity to attend an international reception hosted by VEDP and CIT. Advertising, promotional and support services will also be provided to Virginia companies.
Last year, five Virginia companies received over 3,200 leads from the trade show while two companies reported projected sales of $1.5 million. Virginia businesses interested in learning more about COMDEX/Fall '97 should contact VEDP International Marketing Manager Nancy Vorona at (703) 689-3059.
