Woodstock Manufacturing to Create 400 Jobs
Richmond - Governor George Allen today announced that Woodstock Manufacturing Corporation has decided to establish operations in Shenandoah County. The new manufacturing operation will create 400 jobs over the next two years.
''Virginia's success in attracting Woodstock Manufacturing confirms that our Virginia Renaissance continues to thrive across the Commonwealth,'' said Governor Allen. ''Woodstock Manufacturing brings not only good jobs to the Shenandoah Valley, but it also diversifies the region's economy which promises to make it even more attractive to other businesses considering a new location.''
Woodstock Manufacturing will manufacture rubber and plastic products for consumer and industrial uses in the former Aileen building in the town of Woodstock in Shenandoah County. The 400 jobs it will create will help the region offset recent layoffs at other local companies during the past few years.
''We are looking forward to a long and prosperous relationship between the community and Woodstock Manufacturing,'' said Stanley Banks, part-owner of Woodstock Manufacturing.
Governor Allen approved a $200,000 Governor's Opportunity Fund grant for Shenandoah County to assist with site acquisition costs. He presented an oversized check to Shenandoah County officials today during an announcement ceremony at the site. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership and Shenandoah County assisted the company with its decision.
