RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that CGI, the wholly owned U.S. operating subsidiary of CGI Group Inc., will add 100 positions to its software development and systems integration facility in the Russell County Government Center in Lebanon. CGI provides information technology (IT) services to the government and private sector.
“When CGI committed to Russell County in 2005 they brought job opportunities to help rejuvenate the region’s economy,” said Governor Kaine. “This company has been instrumental in creating the rural IT model for Southwest Virginia and I am thrilled CGI will add another 100 skilled positions to its current base of 290.”

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with the Russell County Industrial Development Authority and the Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority to secure the project for Virginia. The Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission approved $250,000 in Tobacco Region Opportunity Funds for the project. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide training assistance through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program. Additional funding for training will be provided by the Southwest Virginia Workforce Investment Board.
