RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Aerial Machine and Tool Corp. will invest more than $600,000 to expand its production capacity in Patrick County. The facility manufactures precision-sewn and machined products for the U.S. Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, as well as for other military contractors. The expansion and remodeling project will help facilitate Aerial’s current and future growth, which they expect will create 75 new jobs. Virginia successfully competed with North Carolina for the project.

“Aerial Machine and Tool has thrived in our state since relocating to Vesta in 1988,” said Governor Kaine. “The company produces vital life support and parachute components that protect the lives of the men and women serving in our military. Patrick County provides a prime location and the necessary workforce for Aerial to continue its record of success.”

Aerial Machine and Tool Corporation was founded in Long Island City, New York in 1926. By 1940, Aerial had become a prime contractor for the U.S. Department of Defense, a distinction that it enjoys to this day. The company specializes in survival vests, parachute hardware and components, aircraft seat restraints, safety harnesses and other specialized equipment for search and rescue missions.

“We chose to expand at our current facility in Vesta due to the business-friendly climate, excellent workforce and the assistance we received from local and state agencies,” said John Marcaccio, President, Aerial Machine and Tool Corp. “The products that we make sometimes make the difference between life and death; and the quality and commitment of our employees make it easy for us to continue to reinvest in both our future and theirs.”

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with Patrick County and the Patrick County Office of Economic Development to secure the project for Virginia. Congressman Rick Boucher also assisted with the project. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide training assistance through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.

“Aerial has been a valuable part of our business community since 1988 and obviously still is a strong and important part of Patrick County,” said David Young, Chairman, Patrick County Board of Supervisors. “We value them and are delighted that they have thrived with us. This is yet another sign that our community is growing economically and will continue to prosper going forward.”

“Aerial Machine and Tool is a highly valued employer in Patrick County,” said Congressman Boucher. “I am pleased to have been of assistance with this expansion project, and I look forward to working together to assure the continued growth of Aerial.”
