RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Home Care Delivered, Inc., a home health care products company, will invest $1.1 million in a new business development center in Mecklenburg County. The facility will be located in Virginia Lakeside Commerce Park, a joint endeavor by the Clarkesville Economic Development Authority, Chase City Industrial Development Authority and Mecklenburg County Industrial Development Authority. The Mecklenburg center will facilitate Home Cared Delivered’s national roll-out, extending its reach to health care professionals and caregivers across the country. Winning the project retains 50 positions at the company’s Henrico County corporate headquarters and will add an additional 147 new jobs within 30 months at the new facility in Mecklenburg County. Virginia successfully competed with Kentucky for the project.

“Home Care Delivered is a Virginia company choosing to stay and expand into a region that will value these jobs,” said Governor Warner. “Mecklenburg County was selected due to its great workforce and Virginia’s positive business climate.”

Headquartered in Richmond and founded in 1996, Home Care Delivered is one of the premier direct to consumer medical supply companies in the nation. Home Care Delivered is committed to helping people who are treating their medical conditions at home get the best medical supplies and quality service available.

“Virginia and Mecklenburg County were chosen for the pride and welcoming spirit displayed by its people, Governor Warner’s success in achieving a pro-business climate, fiscal stability, and the proximity to Home Care Delivered headquarters,” said Gordon L. Fox, Jr., President, Home Care Delivered, Inc.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with Mecklenburg County to secure the project for Virginia. The Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission approved $125,000 in Tobacco Region Opportunity Funds for the project. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will support the project with training assistance through its Workforce Services Program. The company also qualifies for a Major Business Facility Job Tax Credit.

“Mecklenburg County is very pleased to have Home Care Delivered Inc. as its newest corporate citizen,” said Dan Tanner, Chairman of the Mecklenburg County Board of Supervisors. “The approximately 150 jobs to be created by this company will greatly benefit the citizens of Southside Virginia. The county has suffered from a high unemployment rate and these jobs will bring hope to residents unable to find jobs after being displaced by plant closures.”
