NEW DELHI, INDIA - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that American Hofmann Corporation, a Lynchburg-based manufacturer of balancing machines and systems, has made a $350,000 deal with Indian Airlines to provide precision dynamic balancing equipment for the government-owned domestic carrier in India. Indian Airlines operates a fleet of 60 Boeing and Airbus aircraft. Governor Warner, currently on a week-long trade mission to India, participated in a celebratory signing of the sales agreement at a meeting of the two companies held at the Hyatt Regency in New Delhi.

“The aviation industry provides a ready market for American Hofmann’s technology,” said Governor Warner. “I am particularly proud to announce this new business partnership because American Hofmann has been an enthusiastic participant in our efforts to expand international exports and trade for Virginia-based companies through the Virginia Economic Development Partnership’s VALET program.”

American Hofmann Corporation is a global leader in custom manufactured industrial precision dynamic balancing machines and systems. From small, bench top systems with automatic indexing and marking capabilities, to large, multi-station automatic applications with integrated milling or drilling stations, American Hofmann Corporation has the engineering capabilities to develop custom solutions for any dynamic balancing needs. Hofmann was founded in the early 1930s with the anticipation that balancing would play a crucial role in manufacturing industries. In 1974, the American Hofmann Corporation moved its production and sales facilities from New Jersey to Lynchburg, Virginia, which is now its corporate and manufacturing headquarters. By the 1980s, American Hofmann was the leading manufacturer of balancing machines in the U.S.

“The order with Indian Airlines is an exciting breakthrough for American Hofmann in the expanding Indian marketplace,” said American Hofmann President Stephen Norris. “The technical capabilities and commitment of our workforce in Lynchburg and the excellent assistance provided by our Indian partner, AR Aviation, has proven once again that American Hofmann’s high quality balancing machines are able to compete globally.”
