RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Virtus Marketing, a call center that located a start-up operation in the City of Norton in early 2004, will invest $100,000 to expand its operations. The expansion will create 35 new jobs.

“When it comes down to it, Virginia’s strong work ethic is our best selling point,” said Governor Warner. “Virtus Marketing’s need to expand after only one year in business is a great success story built on the solid performance of its workers. I am proud the company has again chosen Virginia.”

Virtus Marketing, which provides sales and customer service for AOL, provides a full range of business-to-business marketing services and sales support. The company partners with leading organizations to bring marketing solutions related to the entire business sales cycle: from lead generation and sales, to account management and customer service. The goal is to supply a discernible ROI and competitive advantage to blue chip partners through cost effective means of acquiring new customers, implementing market initiatives, and supporting current client services. The company’s expertise is in the development, execution and analysis of outbound and inbound programs. Virtus Marketing is headquartered in Richmond. The company also operates the facility in Norton, which employs more than 100 people.

“We are very excited to announce our office expansion in Southwest Virginia,” said Richard Sloop, President of Virtus Marketing. “The community and talented workforce greatly contributed to our decision to expand our current facility in the historic Hotel Norton.”

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with the Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority and the City of Norton to assist Virtus Management with its decision to expand in Virginia. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide training through its Workforce Services Program.

“We are thrilled Virtus Marketing has found success in Norton,” said Norton Mayor Robert Raines. “This expansion is a vote of confidence in our work force and demonstrates Virtus’ commitment to our region.”
