Governor Warner Announces Major Booz Allen Hamilton Expansion in Virginia

FAIRFAX COUNTY - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Booz Allen Hamilton will commence a major expansion in Fairfax County, Virginia resulting in the creation of 3,700 new jobs with an average salary of $79,000. The $133 million project will span five years with hiring beginning immediately. Booz Allen Hamilton currently employs more than 8,000 people at its current offices in Fairfax County, Arlington, Alexandria, and Norfolk.

“Booz Allen Hamilton has been an enormous asset to the Northern Virginia economic landscape since 1992 when the company relocated its headquarters from Bethesda, Maryland, to McLean,” said Governor Warner. “Virginia is proud to be the home of this flourishing company, and its expansion demonstrates Virginia is a great place to do business.” 

Booz Allen Hamilton is a premier provider of management, financial, and information technology consulting services to government and private sector clients around the world. The company’s expansion in Virginia includes new facilities in Herndon, Norfolk, and the creation of new jobs at existing facilities across the Commonwealth. The company has indicated that job growth over a five-year period could exceed 4,600, making today’s announcement one of the largest in Virginia’s history.

Connolly, chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership prepared the state’s proposal and negotiated an incentive package to secure the project for Virginia. Governor Warner approved a performance-based grant from the Virginia Investment Partnership (VIP) program of up to $9 million based upon actual job creation over five years. The VIP program offers financial assistance to existing Virginia companies proposing significant expansion projects. The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority also assisted with the decision and will work closely with the company on road and infrastructure improvements. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will support the project through its Workforce Services program. Booz Allen Hamilton qualifies for the Major Business Facility Job Tax Credit.
