RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Telvista, Inc., a global company with U.S. headquarters in Dallas, Texas, specializing in technical support, sales and customer service contact centers, will locate its first Virginia operation in the City of Danville. The project will create 400 full-time jobs and 100 full-time equivalent jobs over the next 30 months. Through a $2.5-million investment, Telvista will locate in the Airside Industrial Park, 119 Cane Creek Blvd. Virginia successfully competed with Arizona, North Carolina and other states for the project. Virginia Secretary of Transportation Whitt Clement joined Telvista Chief Financial Officer David Allen and city officials at an event in Danville this morning.
“The creation of hundreds of jobs in Danville is great news,” said Governor Warner. “My administration continues its commitment to assist Southside and all Virginia localities in their economic development efforts.”
The winner of numerous industry awards for quality and customer service, Telvista provides contact center services and related hosted applications at facilities throughout the United States and Mexico. The company’s mid-size and Fortune 1000 clients experience improved satisfaction, enhanced efficiency, and reduced costs as they partner with Telvista to optimize their customer relationship operations. “Our business needs a large pool of people motivated to enhance their technology and customer interaction skills. In Danville we find the kinds of people we need as employees, a solid education infrastructure, and a business-friendly community. The local and state governments also have been very enthusiastic about partnering with us, and proactive in providing the incentives we need to bring the business here. We look forward to a successful partnership between Telvista and the Danville community,” said Telvista CEO Higinio Sanchez.
Governor Warner approved a $200,000 grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to support the City of Danville with the project. The city also obtained $300,000 in Tobacco Region Opportunity Funds from the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission. The Danville Industrial Development Authority will construct 62,000-square-foot building in the Airside Industrial Park for the Telvista project. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership and the City of Danville Office of Economic Development assisted Telvista with its decision. The company is eligible to receive further tax credits because it is locating in an enterprise zone. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide workforce training services and assistance from the Virginia Small Business Financing Authority.
“We are thrilled that Telvista selected the City of Danville for their first operation in Virginia. With this announcement – the largest new employer announcement in decades – the City of Danville takes another step forward to diversifying our economy and put more of our citizens to work. This is a world-class company and we know they will find tremendous success for many years to come. We welcome them as our newest partner to our progressive business community,” said Jerry Gwaltney, Danville City Manager.
