RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Unisys Corporation will commence an expansion in Fairfax County to consolidate Unisys Global Public Sector’s division headquarters. The expansion will accommodate up to 900 new jobs at the new Unisys facility in Fairfax County over the next three years. These jobs include approximately 150 Unisys employees who will relocate from office space presently in Washington, D.C.
“I am pleased that Unisys Public Sector chose to consolidate in the Commonwealth and use Virginians to perform this vital work for national security,” said Governor Warner. “This announcement is a testament to our skilled workforce, as well as our proximity to the federal government.”
Initially, Unisys will lease a 275,000-square-foot office building in Fairfax County, from which it will provide consulting services and systems integration support and services to its public sector clients. During the next year, the company also plans to lease an additional 145,000 square feet in Northern Virginia to complete the consolidation. The company’s current projects include work on behalf of the U.S. Transportation Security Administration to develop an agency-wide IT infrastructure for protecting travelers at some 429 commercial airports across the country.
Unisys, a worldwide information technology services and solutions company, currently employs more than 1,500 people in Virginia. The company offers an end-to-end portfolio of value-based solutions led by competency in consulting and systems integration, outsourcing, network services and security, combined with leading enterprise-class server and related technologies.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership and the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority assisted Unisys with its decision to expand. Unisys qualifies for a Major Business Facility Job Tax Credit, a statutory incentive available to all qualifying companies. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide workforce training services.
