RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Red Oak E-Commerce Solutions, Inc. (ROES), a software and consulting firm for the insurance and workers’ compensation industry, will locate in Mecklenburg County’s Lakeside Commerce Park. The company will invest $3 million and create 40 new jobs over the next three years. Employees at the new facility will include software programmers, software engineers, project managers and customer support analysts.

“Red Oak E-Commerce Solutions is bringing the kind of 21st century opportunities to Southside Virginia that diversify our economy and boost this region’s profile,” said Governor Warner. “My administration is working hard to bring new employment opportunities to rural Virginia, and the announcement of these 40 high tech jobs is another positive sign that companies such as ROES can locate anywhere in the Commonwealth and benefit from skilled workers and a high quality of life.”

Red Oak E-Commerce Solutions offers a range of software that collects, edits and transfers workers’ compensation data electronically. The company also offers consulting services tailored to claim administrators, insurance companies and state agencies. ROES’ staff has gained years of insurance and workers’ compensation industry experience in over 20 states. Hiring for the facility will begin in January 2003.

“ROES intentions are to operate a technology company in a rural setting – not the typical ‘Silicon Valley’ environment,” said Shawn Maloney, President of Red Oak E-Commerce Solutions. “Clarksville’s proximity to Bugg’s Island Lake, the current plans for renovating the downtown area and the construction of the Lakeside Commerce Park will provide ROES and its employees the best in both quality of life and the technology infrastructure required for operations.”

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the Lake Country Marketing Council, Mecklenburg County, the Town of Clarksville and the Town of Chase City assisted Red Oak
E-Commerce Solutions with its decision. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide workforce training services.
