RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Lohmann Corporation will locate a new adhesive coatings plant in Orange County’s Thomas E. Lee Industrial Park. The company will create 30 new jobs through a $5.7 million investment. Virginia successfully competed with Kentucky for the project.
“I am pleased that Lohmann has chosen to locate its new facility in the Commonwealth,” said Governor Warner. “This significant investment is a vote of confidence in Virginia’s future and the hardworking citizens of this region.”
Headquartered in Hebron, Kentucky, Lohmann Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of German-based Lohmann GmbH KG. The company’s new Orange County facility will operate as Lohmann Specialty Coatings LLC and will manufacture adhesive coatings for the plastics industry as well as specialty double-sided tapes. Construction on the company’s facility will begin in December 2002 and is scheduled for completion in August 2003. Hiring for the facility will begin in July 2003.
“Lohmann was extremely happy with the support it received both at the state and local level in the search of a location for our new plant,” said Steven De Jong, President of Lohmann Corporation. “This is a significant step in the global development of Lohmann and I could not be happier in our decision to locate our new facility in Virginia.”
Governor Warner approved a $115,000 grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to assist Orange County with the project. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the Thomas Jefferson Partnership for Economic Development and Orange County assisted Lohmann Corporation with its decision. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide workforce-training services.
“We are very pleased that Lohmann Specialty Coatings LLC selected the Thomas
E. Lee Industrial Park as the home of its new processing plant,” said Stanley D. Livengood, Director of Economic Development for Orange County. “Lohmann marks the third significant employer we have welcomed to Orange County in the two years I have served in this position. I commend our community for pulling together to present Orange County as a prime business location and I want to thank everyone involved in this project for their dedication and perseverance in making this happen.”
