RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Microsoft has selected Fairfax County as the location for its Microsoft Innovation & Technology Conference Center. Governor Warner today joined Craig Mundie, Microsoft’s Chief Technical Officer, in opening the $25 million facility, which will bring 100 jobs and new technology investment to the region.
“Microsoft’s important investment in this new center is another sign that Virginia remains on the leading edge of computing and communication technology,” said Governor Warner. “Virginia's pro-business environment and proximity to the federal government were the difference in cementing our relationship with Microsoft and building this new facility.”
Located at Reston Town Center, Microsoft's Innovation & Technology Conference Center is Microsoft's first facility in Virginia. It will house the latest Microsoft products and technology solutions for government and commercial business. The site will allow Microsoft to work with partners and customers on an array of technology initiatives, including secure computing and homeland defense efforts. Founded in 1975, Microsoft (Nasdaq “MSFT”) is the worldwide leader in software, services and Internet technologies for personal and business computing. The company offers a wide range of products and services designed to empower people through great software.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership and the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority assisted Microsoft with its decision.
