National Catalog Corporation to expand operations
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that National Catalog Corporation (NCC), a division of Distribution Associates, will expand its operations in the Martinsville/Henry County area. The company will create 875 jobs over the next six months through a $2.5 million investment.
"In less than one year, National Catalog Corporation has expanded twice in Martinsville and Henry County," said Governor Gilmore. "This respected corporate citizen has found success in Virginia through the area's qualified workforce and progressive business climate."
NCC is a web-enabled call center that utilizes the Internet for inbound calls, contracting with partners for order taking. The firm's mission is to create strategic partnerships with successful direct marketing companies through an outsourced operations infrastructure. NCC's partners are then relieved of the burdens of additional capital investment as well as distribution fulfillment and telemarketing functions.
The expansion will begin immediately as NCC will open an additional fulfillment center in the Bowles Industrial Park. Approximately 6,100 square feet will be added to the company's customer service center site in the Patrick Henry Mall. NCC will hire 275 employees by July for both customer service and warehouse positions. Between September and October, another 600 positions, some of which are seasonal, will be created.
Bob Rhudy, executive vice president and general manager of National Catalog Corporation said, "We, at NCC, are experiencing wonderful business growth and it is especially rewarding to be able to continue to expand our activities in Martinsville and Henry County. The entire community has been extremely helpful to NCC in making our transition to Virginia."
"Existing businesses are key to Virginia's economic success," Secretary of Commerce and Trade Barry E. DuVal added. "This announcement will bring hundreds of new jobs to Southside Virginia at a critical time."
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the Patrick-Henry Development Council, the City of Martinsville and Henry County assisted the company with its decision. NCC also qualifies for workforce training services offered through the Virginia Department of Business Assistance.
