Precision Bed Rail Manufacturing to invest $1 million in new facility
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Precision Bed Rail Manufacturing Company will begin manufacturing operations in Appomattox County. The company expects to create 100 new jobs over the next three years, and will invest $1 million in the new plant. Production will begin September.
"I am pleased Precision Bed Rail has chosen to locate a manufacturing facility in Virginia," Governor Gilmore said. "This company will eventually create 100 new, quality jobs for the people of the region."
Precision Bed Rail Manufacturing is a homegrown Virginia manufacturer that supplies components to furniture companies. This new operation is a joint venture between Courtland Manufacturing and Appomattox River Manufacturing Companies. Appomattox River Manufacturing produces drawer parts for the furniture and kitchen cabinet industries. These same customers buy bed rails, which will be manufactured at the new facility. The primary market regions for the company will be Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and the Midwest.
"Our company is committed to employing workers with the highest work ethic and team spirit," Precision President Judy E. Smith said. "We believe Southern Virginia is the best location to offer this type of dedication."
"This new investment will provide many employment opportunities for the region’s displaced textile personnel," Secretary of Commerce and Trade Barry E. DuVal added. "We are committed to helping homegrown businesses succeed and grow in the Commonwealth."
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, Region 2000 and Appomattox County assisted the company with its decision. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide workforce training services. The Virginia Small Business Financing Authority is assisting the company with equipment financing.
