Tritex manufacturing facility will create 30 new jobs, $4.4 million for Southwest Virginia

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Tritex, LLC, a manufacturer of insulation materials, will locate its manufacturing operations near Independence in Grayson County. Tritex was formed after McAllister Mills and Robco Inc. formed a joint venture company to purchase a division of Partek Insulation AB of Turku, Finland. The new company will create 30 new jobs through a $4.4 million investment.

"This is an exciting announcement for the people of Southwest Virginia," Governor Gilmore said. "Tritex will become a prosperous company in Virginia and will bring new job opportunities to this region."

McAllister Mills, Inc. started in 1980 in Independence, Virginia as a weaver of fiberglass fabrics, reinforcement meshes for aluminum filtration, grinding wheel reinforcement and other construction meshes. The company sells its products in North America and over 25 countries around the world. McAllister Mills is poised to expand its sales through exporting products from its base in Southwest Virginia.

Robco, Inc. has served industrial markets with specialized products including rubber products, gasket and mechanical packing and sealing materials as well as high temperature resistant materials for industry. Robco markets to North America and maintains an active export market.

"The strong work ethic and community values of our employees in Grayson County and the Town of Independence are the foundation of our success," President of Tritex McAllister said. "Other areas were looked at as options for our new facility, but the state, county and town worked hard to fulfill our needs."

"This announcement coincides with the Governor’s recommendations in The Virginia Strategy, his strategic plan for economic development," Secretary of Commerce and Trade Barry E. DuVal added. "We are committed to helping existing businesses succeed and grow in the Commonwealth."

Governor Gilmore approved a grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund worth $100,000 to assist Grayson County with site preparation. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the Mount Rogers Partnership, Grayson County and the Town of Independence assisted Tritex with its decision.
