Civic Development Group invests $1.5 million in call center
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Civic Development Group will locate a new outbound call center in the City of Martinsville. The company will invest $1.5 million in the facility and create 150 new jobs for Virginians. Civic Development Group announced in October that it would locate a call center in the City of Harrisonburg, also creating 150 jobs through a $1.5 million investment.
"Civic Development's decision to locate in Martinsville demonstrates Virginia's commitment to the business community," said Governor Gilmore. "We welcome this respected company to the Commonwealth of Virginia."
Civic Development Group is a full-service telemarketing company that provides direct sales for telecommunications and mortgage companies. Major clients include Fortune 100 corporations. Civic also provides fundraising services for non-profit organizations and conducts educational seminars. The company is one of the 10 largest telemarketing firms in the United States with approximately 3,200 employees operating in 18 centers from New Jersey to Texas.
"This call center represents a partnership between our business, the Martinsville/Henry County community, and the Commonwealth of Virginia," said Walt Lapinsky, President-Call Centers, Civic Group Development. "Civic Development is in an expansion mode, and Martinsville meets our requirements very well."
"Civic Development Group will be pleased with its decision to locate this call center in Virginia," said Secretary of Commerce and Trade Barry E. DuVal. "This project is a true example of a partnership between the company, the community and the state."
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the City of Martinsville, Henry County and the Patrick Henry Development Council assisted the company with its decision. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide workforce training services.
