Governor Allen Welcomes VehiCare Headquarters and 175 Projected Jobs
Richmond - Governor George Allen today announced that VehiCare, Inc., will relocate its corporate headquarters from Rochester, New York, to the City of Richmond. The company provides professional maintenance service to trucking fleets across the United States and will initially hire 25 employees at the Richmond headquarters, with 150 new jobs to be added across the State over the next two years.
"Virginia's prime location -- with 60% of U.S. Industrial Outlets within an overnight truck delivery and world class ports -- played an important part in VehiCare's choice. Having VehiCare's national headquarters in the Commonwealth puts America's trucking fleets on the road to safer and more efficient operations," said Governor Allen. "Their decision to relocate is a testimony to Virginia's pro-business tax and regulatory policies, as well as the Commonwealth's most valuable resource -- its people."
VehiCare, Inc., currently employs 220 workers. Specializing in maintenance services for the trucking and vocational construction industries, VehiCare serves over 50 Virginia-based companies. VehiCare will occupy space in the 7th & Franklin building in downtown Richmond.
"We recognized Virginia's strategic East Coast location as a major advantage for our corporate headquarters," said Keith Dobson, president and chief executive officer of VehiCare, Inc. "The Commonwealth's pro-business climate and dependable workforce were also key factors in our decision."
VehiCare will begin operating from its new Richmond headquarters this August. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the Greater Richmond Partnership and the City of Richmond assisted the company with its decision. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide workforce training services. Virginia competed with Atlanta, Georgia, and Charlotte, North Carolina, for the $300,000 investment.
