Site Will Enhance Virginia's Marketing Capabilities to Attract Jobs and Investment

Richmond - The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) has launched its new marketing web site, placing the Commonwealth of Virginia at the fingertips of business prospects around the globe. The new site will complement the Partnership's existing marketing program and will enhance Virginia's presence in the global marketplace. Users can access the site at www.YesVirginia.org.

The new high-tech web site will enable visitors to discover the advantages of locating a business in Virginia and will allow immediate two-way communication for potential prospects. The VEDP site boasts a unique feature that incorporates an audio voice message from the Governor. Virginia Governor George Allen greets and introduces visitors to the web site, proclaiming that "Virginia is Open For Business."

Wayne L. Sterling, Executive Director of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, regards the new web site as a major marketing tool for Virginia in this age of electronic media. "By utilizing the latest information technology, we will continue to build on Virginia's emerging leadership in economic development," Sterling said.

Included in the web site are specific areas of interest such as "Fast Facts about Virginia", which gives a quick synopsis of information from population to geography to transportation assets. The "Partnership Profile" informs visitors of the activities and services of the Partnership. "All Around Virginia" shows a map of the Commonwealth where visitors can click on a specific region to learn more about that area. "The Virginia File" provides detailed information about the state, describing the work force, education, transportation, industry environment and quality of life. Recent economic development news releases can also be found on the web site. The site was designed and built by Davies New Media of Richmond, Virginia.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership was created by the Virginia General Assembly in 1995 to encourage, stimulate, and support the development and expansion of the economy of the Commonwealth.
