idX Corporation to expand Virginia manufacturing operation, invest $2.68 million

FREDERICKSBURG - Governor Terry McAuliffe today announced that idX Corporation, the preeminent supplier of global solutions for retail environments, will invest $2.68 million to expand its manufacturing operation in Spotsylvania County. Virginia successfully competed against North Carolina for the project, which will create 25 new jobs.

In February 2017, idX announced it would create 150 new jobs and invest $7.2 million to establish its Virginia manufacturing operation in Spotsylvania County. The company provides quality millwork, fixtures, décor and graphics to its customers, and offers manufacturing in all materials including: acrylic, glass, laminates, metal, upholstery, veneers, and wood.

“I’m pleased that today we are announcing the company’s decision to reinvest in Spotsylvania County and the Commonwealth, which is a powerful testament to our business climate and successful corporate partnership,” said Governor McAuliffe, speaking at the official grand opening event. “Growing the manufacturing industry has been a core part of our efforts to diversify and build the new Virginia economy, and we know we are making progress when great companies like idX continue to expand in Virginia. I thank idX for creating jobs of the future and look forward to the next chapter of this company’s growth.”

idX Corporation offers superior craftsmanship, comprehensive technical capabilities, world-class project management, and turn-key retail services – the complete solution for the financial, hospitality, point-of-purchase, restaurant, and retail markets. Specializing in acrylic, glass, injection molding, laminate, material integration, metal, vacuum forming, veneer, and wood, idX has manufacturing facilities across North America, as well as locations in Asia, Europe, and the Indian subcontinent to meet the needs of global customers.

“idX is part of a manufacturing sector of nearly 6,000 firms in the Commonwealth that generate over $113 billion in direct annual economic output,” said Secretary of Commerce and Trade Todd Haymore. “With I-95 running through Spotsylvania County and four international airports within 100 miles, Spotsylvania is a strategic location for idX to reach customers across the U.S. We are excited for the company to grow in Virginia, and look forward to a long relationship with this important partner.”

“idX has achieved success by focusing strategically on our customers and their evolving needs,” said Terry Schultz, CEO of idX Corporation. “Broadening our manufacturing capabilities in Virginia continues that tradition, and allows us to respond to opportunities for growth on the East Coast. We have worked closely with the State of Virginia and Spotsylvania County over the past year, and are pleased to expand our business here.”

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with Spotsylvania County and the Fredericksburg Regional Alliance at the University of Mary Washington to secure the project for Virginia. Governor McAuliffe approved a $75,000 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund to assist Spotsylvania County with the project. Funding and services to support the company’s employee training activities will be provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.

“We welcome idX to the community and are excited the company has chosen Spotsylvania to expand,” said Lee Hill District Supervisor Gary Skinner. “We’re looking forward to Phase II and a lengthy relationship with idX. As they grow, we grow—it’s a win-win solution for everybody.”

“I could not be happier about the grand opening and expansion of idX in Fredericksburg,” added Senator Ryan McDougle. “This robust manufacturing operation will provide valuable jobs to hard-working people, and the long-term benefits are just as exciting. Today’s announcement marks a significant step towards a flourishing partnership with idX, and I look forward to its growth in Spotsylvania County.”

“Welcome to Spotsylvania County,” said Delegate Robert Orrock. “We are glad you’re here. idX is a tremendous addition to the businesses that call this region home, and I look forward to the company's continued success.”
